Lisa Weaver: Welcome to the porch, Lisa! You have a new Love Inspired novel out this month, A Very Merry Christmas K-9. Christmas stories are magical! What was your favorite part of setting this book during the holiday season?
Lisa Carter: I’m often writing the story in the heat and humidity of summer. It’s fun to cool off if only on the page and immerse myself in the joy and merriment of the holidays.
Lisa Weaver: What do you hope readers will love most about A Very Merry Christmas K-9?
Lisa Carter: I have been blessed with so many older women who invested in me as a young woman, a young wife and a young mother. I love the affirming, supportive relationship Ingrid finds with Miss Wilda and with her best friend, Chloe.
Lisa Weaver: What does a perfect cozy fall day look like for you?
Lisa Carter: I’d be in my pajamas, wrapped in a quilt, reading a great book or working on a needlepoint project. Later, there would be a walk in my garden under sunny, blue skies. There’d be a crispness to the air and the beautiful tapestry of autumn leaves in the trees all around me. I enjoy time with family and friends. Dinner would a hearty soup with a salad and fresh bread.
Now I’ve made myself hungry . . .
Lisa Weaver: Are you an “absolutely no Christmas before Thanksgiving” person, or are you ready for twinkle lights and Christmas music in October?
Lisa Carter: There is a time for every season—I enjoy autumn/pumpkins/foliage and harvest festivals in October.

Hello again, human.
Halloween is just a few weeks away. Apparently, the holiday involves dressing innocent household pets in ridiculous costumes. Mom thinks it would be hilarious if I dressed as a dog this year. A DOG!
I briefly considered reporting her to Pet Patrol, but then I remembered she controls the treats. Even though it's a huge blow to my dignity, I agreed to participate. My compensation will be substantial, though. I didn’t say yes until a deal was in place that included a lot of kitty delicacies. Yummy!
